Hahnville opens district play with victory over Destrehan – Crescent City Sports

In the biggest rivalry of the river parishes, Hahnville went about business on Tuesday night, defeating Destrehan 69-56 in the District 7-5A opener for both teams.

The Tigers’ victory ended a three-game losing streak in front of a standing crowd at Boutte.

Destrehan started well, taking a 15-14 lead after a quarter, but Hahnville began to gain control in the second quarter, edging the Wildcats 19-12 to take a 33-27 lead. Hahnville extended the lead to 49-37 for the final quarter.

Cameron Lumar led the Tigers with 23 points while the DaQuan Prize had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Hahnville (10-8) returns to the district game on Friday night in East St. John while the Wildcats (14-3) have lost their second straight game and will host HL Bourgeois in the district game on Friday night.
